1080 film wins in Ireland
A feature length documentary on New Zealand’s controversial pest control policies has won a major international award for environmental films. “Poisoning Paradise - Ecocide New Zealand” co-produced by Clyde and Steve Graf won best feature in the Environment & Ecology category in the International Film Festival Ireland on the weekend. Six films from around the world were shortlisted for the award.
This is the second international award Poisoning Paradise has won in the last 4 weeks. It also won in the same category at the Heart of England International Film Festival, four weeks ago. Poisoning Paradise is the second in a trilogy that also has the distinction of winning the Skeptic Society’s Bent Spoon Award for 2009.
The Graf brothers is currently working on a third documentary that focuses on safer, more community-friendly alternatives to the aerial distribution of 1080 poison. That film is expected to be released in 2011. Clyde Graf is currently seeking election to Environment Waikato for the Thames-Coromandel district.
