Wine Discovery New Zealand 2010 Still Going Ahead

The Great Wine Capitals Global Network AGM and international conference being held in Christchurch in early November will be going ahead as planned following the 7.1 earthquake that hit Canterbury on Saturday 4 September.

The conference and events during Wine Discovery NZ 2010, which runs from Sunday 31 October to Thursday 4 November, will be held at various venues around Christchurch and the wider South Island.

Mayor Bob Parker says the programme will be going ahead in full and delegates are encouraged to continue planning their trips to the Garden City.

“There have been rumours Christchurch has been flattened by the quake – this is certainly not the case. Although there has been significant damage to some buildings, a lot of our City is still intact and we are trying to get back to business as usual wherever possible.

“Our beautiful city will still be blossoming this spring, we are on track for the event and we are very excited to host the great wine regions of the world in early November.”

Due to the earthquake, the registration deadline for participating South Island wineries that would like to showcase their wines at the event has been extended to Saturday 25 September.
