Country Superstar and contemporary music icon Kenny Rogers kicks off his tour Down Under in Auckland with his band accompanied by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra on Friday, January 21 at Vector Arena.

Tickets to this very special concert will go on sale on Wednesday, November 8 with Ticketmaster www.ticketmaster.co.nz. Fans are urged to be quick.

The multi-Grammy legend with universal appeal is one of music's most enduring and successful artists, featuring in the Top Ten list of Best Selling Male Artists of all Time.

The first to chart hits in each of the last six decades, Kenny has recorded more than 65 albums (20 Platinum), sold over 125 million albums and released 120 romantic ballads, hell-hole heartbreakers and contemporary classic singles including -

KENNY ROGERS FAST FACTS

Kenny Rogers sold more than one million records every four weeks for a whopping 26 straight months in the late 70s - 80s.

His big resurgence was in 1999 with the hit single The Greatest. He became the oldest artist to reach #1 in the history of the Country charts that same year with Buy Me A Rose, his 22nd #1 Country hit.

Kenny started out in a folk music trio, moved to a jazz group, joined the New Christy Minstrels and then formed the pop group, The First Edition before going solo.

In 2009, Kenny was honoured with the Academy of Country Music's Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award - other recipients include Randy Travis, the late Jerry Reed and Hank Williams Jr.

Kenny studied under the Master of Photography, Ansel Adams and has published three books- he has photographed 5 American Presidents, landscapes and celebrities and taken the last photos of George Burns, Cary Grant and John Houston.

He is an author of four books including The Toy Shoppe, based on the tour and hit musical, which he wrote.

One of Kenny's biggest hits, The Gambler, spawned 5 movies and a five episode mini- series. Rogers starred as Brady Hawks in what is the longest running mini-series in the history of US television, seen by 100 million people.

Kenny received the prestigious Horatio Alger Award in 1990, presented to those who have distinguished themselves despite humble beginnings.

After the death of his friend Harry Chapin, Rogers assumed his position at the forefront of the movement to aid the hungry - leading to the World Hunger Media Awards. He was also a participant in the We Are The World performance which raised millions for famine relief in Africa.

Kenny is the Chairman of Dreamcatcher Artist Management, a history making label based in Nashville with #1 records and Platinum success. One the eve of its first anniversary, Dreamcatcher Entertainment celebrated the first Gold album, Kenny's She Rides Horses.

His album Greatest Hits has sold over 12 million copies in America and a further 12 million globally.

Kenny's 5 year old twin boys are the most recent additions to his family.
