Auckland Theatre Company’s CABARET extends

Auckland Theatre Company’s CABARET extends to 18th of December

Auckland Theatre Company’s decadent new production of CABARET the musical at the Salon Perdu Spiegeltent at Auckland Viaduct is the hottest ticket in town.

With the opening week playing to capacity and very heavy forward booking, a fourth and final extension has been made to the season. Originally planned to close on November 20, the show’s season, which has already been extended twice, will play until the 17th of December.

No further extensions to the season are possible as the resource consent for The Salon Perdu Spiegeltent runs out on the 19th of December.

The show has garnered rave reviews from local critics and audiences alike.

New Zealand Herald reviewer Janet McCallister exclaimed “Auckland Theatre Company has pulled all the stops”, NBR reviewer John Daly-Peoples said “this is the best production of CABARET ever staged in Auckland and its setting inside the Spiegeltent on the Auckland waterfront - a party central for the licentious and depraved – is a brilliant combination of theatre and nightclub. ” while Elisabeth Easter told readers of Listener, “ this is a spectacle that shouldn't be missed.

Of the opening night, Theatreview’s Adey Ramsel said “We could almost feel the buzz experienced by the very first, ‘first night’ audience when Cabaret premiered back in 1966 and one can almost imagine this is the kind of production writers Kander and Ebb originally dreamed of when they first envisaged their show: it is just so… Cabaret! ”

Tickets to CABARET are available from Ticketek, 0800 Tickekek (842 538) or www.atc.co.nz.
