Firebirds squad to play the Otago Volts in the first round
of the 2010/11 domestic One-Day competition at Molyneux Park
in Alexandra on Sunday 9 January is:

If selected to play, former BLACKCAPS fast bowler Mark Gillespie will play his first match of the season for the Wellington Firebirds. Gillespie, who missed most of last summer with a back injury, was sidelined with a separate hip/thigh injury at the start of this season.
If
selected, Josh Brodie and Marc Calkin will make their New
Zealand domestic limited overs debuts. Brodie has 17
previous First-Class appearances for Wellington and has
scored two centuries since the start of his domestic
four-day career in March 2008 and Calkin has played seven
domestic Twenty20 matches for both Central Districts and the
Firebirds.
Sunday’s round one fixture is the first of
eight round-robin matches. The Firebirds play their first
four away, against the Volts on Sunday, the Auckland Aces on
12 January, the Northern Knights on 16 January and the
Canterbury Wizards on 19 January. The Firebirds then return
home to host the Stags on Sunday 23 January, the Wizards on
Thursday 27 January, the Knights on Sunday 30 January and
the Aces on Wednesday 2 February in consecutive matches at
the Basin Reserve.
A preliminary finals series between
the top four qualifying teams will be played on 6 and 9
February, and the final scheduled for Sunday 13 February.
