Pasifika Festival to go ahead rain, gale or shine

MEDIA ADVISORY
21 February 2011

Pasifika Festival to go ahead rain, gale or shine

Cancelled at the last minute last year due to ferocious mid-summer winds, this year’s Pasifika Festival will go ahead no matter what the weather. Taking place at Waitangi Park on Saturday 26 February, the optional use of a giant marquee will ensure the stalls and entertainment are well covered in case of bad weather.

Featuring craft, food and corporate stalls, entertainment by the Musical Island Boys, Cindy of Samoa and performers from the various Pacific Island communities, ripper rugby and other activities, the day promises to be a tantalising taste of all things Pacific.

Representatives from several island nations – Tuvalu, Tonga, Niue, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Fiji and Tokelau are now putting the finishing touches to their performances and preparing lots of tasty food for the day.

The Pasifika Festival starts at 9.30am and runs until 4pm.

Full details of NZCT Summer City events can be found in brochures available from City Council pools, libraries, recreation centres and stands around town. People can also view full listings on the Council website, Wellington.govt.nz
