The Top Four Defence Rugby Teams Come to NZ to Contest for International Defence Rugby Supremacy
The Semi-finalists for the International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC) have been found after completion of the Quarter Finals in Sydney yesterday Twelve Defence and Police teams from nine different nations have been playing matches in Sydney Australia and the top four teams are; Tonga Defence Services (TDS), British Army, Australian Services Rugby Union and the Samoa Police.
The NZ Defence Force team had a close encounter with the TDS and were leading 26 – 20 going into the final few minutes of the game. The Tongans impressed with their 80 minute performance and were hard on attack when they crossed to score the try. They kicked the conversion and won the game 27 – 26.
The Top Four now fly to NZ this
weekend and will be hosted by the NZ Defence Force at
Devonport Naval Base. The Semi-Finals look to be some
exciting games which will be played at the North Shore RFC
as follows
