Fuzen Entertainment is proud to announce the first instalment of the Northern Bass 2013/14 artist line-up.

Northern Bass is ever evolving and for its third anniversary is broadening its approach to programming while not losing sight of its commitment to showcasing the worlds finest in bass music.

Set just an hour north of Auckland City in the pristine countryside of sub-tropical beach paradise that is Mangawhai, Northern Bass brings together the finest elements of local and international bass culture for two days of celebrations.

As a special way to mark the first line-up drop, we are giving away free camping with all Northern Bass Festival tickets until the end of September but get in quick to nab the best spots.

CALYX AND TEEBEE (UK)
To drum and bass fans the world over, the names Calyx and Teebee are synonymous with high quality, perfectly sculpted music. Embracing the new possibilities that the bass music revolution has opened up, Calyx & TeeBee’s current musical perspective covers a range of styles and sounds that threaten to change the game once again.

SWINDLE (UK)
A multi talented musician and producer hailing from South London, music has been Swindles’ obsession since a young age. His highly individual sets leave a stamp on ravers with his unique brand of jazz leaning, funk-laden grime and dub-step.

DUB FX (AUST)
Blood sweat and busking is how Dub FX built his respected audience. His trademark is creating rich live music using his own performance aided by live looping and effect pedals combined with his voice. He creates intricate hip-hop, reggae and drum and bass rhythms.

LADI 6 (NZ)
New Zealand’s premier hip-hop vocalist blends futuristic beats and soul. Her Latest Album ‘Automatic’ has confirmed her position as an icon of New Zealand music. Receiving 5 stars in the NZ Herald, Ladi will be a must see at Northern Bass 2013/14.

ALIX PEREZ (BELGIUM)
Widely regarded as one of the most ground-breaking and innovative producer-DJ’s of his generation, Belgium born Alix Depauw is at the front of the drum and bass scene, carrying an ever growing reputation and a much sought after catalogue of music.

UPBEATS LIVE / MC ARMANNI (NZ)
The live collaboration between local Drum and Bass heroes The Upbeats and Phillys’ MC Armanni is going to light up the Northern Bass main-stage. A full production set will showcase their massive Drum n Bass Tunes as well as their recent forays into hip-hop.

S.P.Y (BRAZIL)
S.P.Y’s trademark heavy, soulful sound and skill behind the decks rival his studio talents and he delights fans with an educated blend of old school classics and fresh new beats. Alternating between beautiful, orchestral, musical sets and dark, rolling mixes S.P.Y captures the emotions of the crowd and his growing global fan base and outstanding reputation are testament to this.

NU:LOGIC (UK)
Nu:Logic is a collaborative partnership between Hospital drum and bass brothers Nu:Tone and Logistics. The sum of the Gresham’s combined powers is oozing with the kind of soulful drum and bass that is the foundation of the Hospital label and will satisfy long-term fans that hanker after the golden days of the genre.

ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE (NZ)
An intelligent blend of forward-thinking hip-hop, jazz and soul, Wellingtons EWH have already been given the coveted Giles Peterson and Benji B seals’ of approval (BBC). A live performance not to miss!

EPROM (USA)
Known for his diverse, funky and energetic sets that cross the lines between live re-mixing and manipulation of hip-hop and dub-step with his own obscenely bass-heavy neurocrunk transmissions.

ONRA (FRANCE)
Globetrotting producer Onra has staked his claim as one of the most exciting beat-makers of the past few years, with his electrifying live performances around the world adding new dimensions to the cosmic grooves Onra puts on tape. Onra’s use of beguiling samples and loops results in his signature sound, sitting between beats, hip-hop and soul.

STICKY BUDS (CANADA)
From the funkafied west coast of Canada, Stickybuds has been making his mark on music all over the globe. His sets are filled with Funk, Drum and Bass, Glitch Hop, Reggae and Breaks all intricately woven through countless hours in the studio. Expect even bigger things to come from the forward thinking and all around nice guy Stickybuds.

SUPERVILLAINS RMC (NZ)
Powered by an explosive blend of classic hip-hop and criminally insane theatrics, Supervillains RMC are a covert collective of cloaked craftsmen who have been taking the New Zealand music scene hostage since 2011. A hip-hop collective with a taste for the bizarre and a tendency to become dangerously unhinged onstage, Supervillains RMC are unlike anything the scene has ever experienced before.

DILLINJA (UK)
With his trademark combination of dirty stomach-churning bass-lines and tighter than tight beats, his reputation has been secured as one of the most influential producers in DNB history, as well as one of the scene’s most called-upon re-mixers, having worked with everyone from David Bowie to Bjork and Basement Jaxx. A true connoisseur of sounds, Dillanja was reared on a musical diet of funk, jazz, reggae and rare groove, genres which proved to influence him enormously, but it was the 80’s hip hop and electro explosion which really captured his heart.

JASON HOWSON (NZ)
The Godfather of New Zealands’ garage and grime community, Howson can do no wrong.
The Beatmerchants creative director has gained the respect of locals and internationals alike.

CONSEQUENCE LIVE (NZ)
Signed to the UK’s Exit records, Consequence has been a staple in the drum and bass community in New Zealand and the UK since the age of 17. An exciting return home for this expat.

ORGANIKISMNESS (NZ)
The Upper South Islands’ bass music champion, Organikismness joins the dots from drum and bass to dub-step, a true NZ bass heavyweight.

K+LAB (NZ)
Combine dirty bass-lines with 80’s hip-hop breaks and a sprinkle of electro freshness and you get a sound that is undeniably K-Lab and undeniably banging! K-lab promotes block-rocking vibes with his high-energy DJ sets and dropping his own remixes of old school party jams alongside glitched out new school bangers.

THE TURNAROUND (NZ)
The Turnaround Trinity of respected producers and DJ’s Cian, Submariner and Manuel Bundy love laying down the good tunes and are renowned for their monthly monster parties with the unparalleled reputation for partying ‘til the break of dawn. The Turnaround ethos for fellow best junkies is firmly grounded in having fun and letting loose, and musically for those who like their beats chunky, funky and most definitely soulful!

SOULWARE (NZ)
This dub music collective from the Deep South take a very unique approach to bass music, offering a refreshing breath of life to a world of disposable beats. The Soulware live shows combine elements of dub-step, drum and bass, dub electronica, trip hop blues and rock that will submerge the listener into a depth of sonic sound scape and rhythm to move body and soul.

RAIZA BIZA (NZ)
Young Hamilton based rapper Raiza Biza’s background story is one of a young immigrant, trying to adjust and find his place in a new land. His lyrics are often reflective and introspective, accompanied by soulful jazz-influenced instrumentals.

LATINAOTEAROA (NZ)
A Latin Funk Soul Hip Hop and Jazzy outfit with Bobbito Brazuka on decks with his dope as Latin jams such as Cumbria, Calypso, Salsa, Bossa and Samba Soul. Venezuelan Diva Jennifer Zea compliments with her beautiful voice on vocals and all-round talented musician Isaac Aesili brings his amazing skills on percussion and on the wheels of steel.

MC KODER (UK)
New kid on the grime block, MC Koder is recognised for his energetic flow, creative wordplay and all round raw persona; Koder is an artist that captures your attention right from the word go. Described as the voice of a new wave of grime, he delivers subtle messages that can be heard throughout his music. Evoking his experiences as well as stories, thoughts and emotions found within his community, he creates a darker sound, a cross between grime and trap rap music.

ORPHAN (NZ)
DJ, Producer of phat boom bap influenced Hip Hop. He is evident on U.K trip-hop artist Ella Montclare and in the U.S where his remix "All Things Shadow" hand picked by DJ Shadow for his first ever Remix Project. Expect hard hitting hip-hop to get ya head nod on.

BUCK ROGERS (NZ)
Buck Rogers moves on a voyage that sees explorations throughout the realms of electronic music incorporating glitch, hip-hop, ghetto funk and drum and bass. With releases on Adapted, Junkfood, Scour and Empathy Recordings

DYLAN C (NZ)
Dylan C is an Auckland-based DJ, Programme Director for Base FM and co-host of the Base Breakfast Show. A strong supporter of local music, he recently mixed the 2CD 'Turn It Up' compilation for Base FM, which featured 36 local artists. While known for his down-tempo & hip hop sets, Dylan C also relishes the chance play a heavier sound, taking in everything from old school drum & bass and 90’s trip-hop, through to future beats and deep dub-step flavours.

HOLLOW CROOKS (NZ)
Brought together by a love of all things bass music, the talented trio draw influence from a wide range of the musical spectrum, creating a highly imaginative and forward thinking mash of deep rolling drum and bass and fresh exciting funk.

MISFITS OF ZION (AUST/NZ)
The new collaboration that is production duo MOZ, push the envelope with their brand of bass heavy music that’s been creating mayhem on the dance-floor. Hooking up with leading drum and bass and dub-step artists results in their truly stonking crowd smashing tracks.

BAILEY WILEY (NZ)
A soulful voice with depth of presence and lyrical dynamic beyond her years, Bailey is one of New Zealand’s most vital and current emerging artists with a sound that creates colour and depth across a range of genres. Influenced primarily by soul and R&B, her work is characterised by a flavour of hip-hop accommodating both eerie tones and synthesised bass that rolls throughout her tracks. Her fearless approach to performance engages the audience while offering a stripped back raw encounter of soul at it’s best; unblemished and original.

MIXED CRATE (NZ)
Once in a while these vinyl junkies get together to bring something rather special, Mixed Crate is a heavyweight line-up of local DJ’s, throwing down genres from Hip Hop and Garage through to Jungle and Drum and Bass.
