Flying Start to the First Day of Breeze-Ups

Flying Start to the First Day of Breeze-Ups

The first day of Breeze-Ups for the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs has been successfully completed with nearly 200 young horses presented for their videoed gallop in near-perfect conditions.

Every horse catalogued in the Ready to Run Sale is offered the opportunity to gallop on the course proper at Te Rapa with the final 200m of their work timed and filmed.

Today saw 106 heats hit the track that was rated a Dead 4 with today's times available for download now.

The day got off to a flying start with Heat 2 recording the fastest two times of the day. Working together, Lot 29 (Keeper x Heartache) and Lot 218 (Murtajill x Silent Smytzer), both from Bradbury Park, stopped the clock at 9.94 seconds and 9.95 seconds respectively.

The third fastest Lot of the day was Lot 435 (Iffraaj x Exquisitely), another from Bradbury Park, clocking 10.27 seconds when working with Lot 391 (Iffraaj x Coupon) from Mana Park who also ran a slick time of 10.34 seconds.

Amongst a host of eye-catching breezes throughout the day was Diamond Lodge's Lot 167, a colt by hot young sire Northern Meteor that breezed in 10.30 seconds.

The well-bred Lot 241, an Encosta de Lago gelding out of a winning Irish-bred Danehill mare Starspangled, worked nicely with his Ascot Farm stablemate Lot 343, a colt by first season sire Nicconi, hitting the line together in a time of 10.42 seconds.

A half-brother to recent Melbourne stakes winner Eclair Big Bang Lot 427 also impressed with his breeze up, recording a stylish 10.82 seconds.
