Light Show shines bright at Auckland Art Gallery this weekend

This Saturday 11 October, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki will open the doors to its latest international exhibition, Light Show.

Following its sell-out season at the Hayward Gallery, London, the immersive exhibition is the first major presentation of international light-based art to be seen in New Zealand. Artworks by leading international artists, including Olafur Eliasson, Dan Flavin, Jenny Holzer, Ann Veronica Janssens and James Turrell, will light up two floors of the Gallery.

Light Show talks and film screenings are offered free to all gallery-goers throughout the exhibition’s four-month run. The opening weekend programme includes talks by Light Show curator and creator Dr Cliff Lauson from the Hayward Gallery, and a screening of the film on renowned Light Show and Scottish light artist, David Batchelor.

Special ticketed events include five Open Late evenings held over the exhibition’s season with live acts, George FM DJs and after-hours access to the dazzling magic of Light Show. Food and drink are also available. Open Late tickets are $20 and are valid from 6 – 9pm on the night.
