Date Announced for the Block NZ 2014 Public Open Homes

TV3 is inviting viewers to visit The Block NZ houses, with one public event on Saturday 25 October (Labour weekend).

Competing teams Maree & James, Jo & Damo, Alex & Corban, and Quinn & Ben will be on site as their houses are inspected, and the producers of The Block NZ will be filming the Open Homes for the series’ final episodes.

The 2012 and 2013 Open Homes were highly successful with thousands of viewers from around the country making the most of the opportunity to meet The Block NZ teams and see the four houses up close.

The patience and goodwill of the neighbourhood, road users, and the fans who used public transport and often queued for long periods of time, made the previous Open Homes successful events, able to be enjoyed by thousands of New Zealanders of all ages.

This year, TV3 has worked with Council and other stakeholders on a comprehensive plan to ensure the 2014 Open Homes take place with the minimum possible disruption and are again a positive experience for all involved.

Viewers are continuing to tune into The Block NZ in increasing numbers. To date, 2,725,000 New Zealanders have tuned into the hit series, 129,200 more than at the same point in the 2013 series (5+ cume).

The Block NZ consistently dominates the commercial demographics. This week (Tuesday 30 September and Wednesday 1 October), The Block NZ attracted an average audience of 169,131 in the key 25-54 demographic, well ahead of the 123,436 who watched My Kitchen Rules NZ.

In the Main Household Shopper with children (MHSwch) demographic, The Block NZ had more than twice the viewers of MKRNZ, attracting an average audience of 64,658 (compared with 31,284).

The Block NZ is produced by Eyeworks Television for TV3. Broadcast sponsor is Bunnings Warehouse, with programme partners Kiwibank, Wild Bean Cafe and Honda.

Details on The Block NZ Open Homes, including information on how to use public transport to attend, will be available at TV3.co.nz/theblocknz from Monday, October 13.
