Tickets Snapped up for Jono & Ben’s Ice Bucket Challenge

Tickets Snapped up in Minutes for Jono & Ben’s Vanilla Ice Bucket Challenge

A capacity crowd will witness Jono & Ben’s Vanilla Ice Bucket Challenge, at the Powerstation in Auckland this Friday. A limited amount of free tickets to the event were snapped up in less than three minutes last week via The Rock’s website.

“It seems that even Rock listeners have a soft spot for this 90s hip-hop icon,” says Ben Boyce, one half of Jono & Ben. “The whole country have stopped, collaborated and listened.

“Not only did the tickets to the gig go within minutes, but with the help of the public, we managed to get Vanilla Ice’s infamous track ‘Ice, Ice Baby’ to number five on the NZ charts. We even surpassed Taylor Swift’s new song, which means we've given her another sad event to write a whiney album about!”

Jono & Ben’s Vanilla Ice Bucket Challenge has been inspired by V’s current ‘Give it a V’ campaign.

Producer Bronwynn Bakker says those who missed out on tickets can watch the event LIVE on Jono and Ben at Ten (from 10.10pm Friday on TV3), in what will be the first LIVE broadcast for the top-rating show.

“We’ve got a busy schedule for Vanilla Ice while he’s here, and Jono & Ben will be with him every step of the way,” she says.

Jono Pryor adds: "We are very excited about doing our first live outside broadcast, we will be like Mike McRoberts reporting live from Gaza, but instead of rescuing orphans we will be resuscitating bogans."

For those lucky enough to secure tickets, doors at the Powerstation will open at 7pm and Vanilla Ice will take to the stage at 9.10pm for a 30 minute performance. New Zealand rock band Villainy will also perform.
