Fisherman missing in Waimea Inlet

A search has resumed this morning for a 35 year old Nelson man reported missing in the Waimea Inlet near Nelson.

The missing man, Lian Thang VAN, was fishing with a net near the mouth of the Waimea River with friends when it was reported he got into difficulty about 4pm yesterday.

Golfers at the nearby Greenacres Golf Club raised the alarm and a search was immediately mounted.

Today's search includes 12 LandSAR ground search volunteers in four teams, two kayakers, four boats including Coastguard and Nelson Surf Lifesaving and four members of the Police Dive Squad.
