Volunteers get kitted out ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 New Zealand

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 New Zealand is only weeks away and the volunteers are getting suited and booted to help all those coming to Christchurch to enjoy cricket's greatest celebration.

Speaking from the presentation of the first volunteer uniform at the Christchurch Netball Centre in Hagley Park, Councillor Tim Scandrett says the contribution of the volunteers is invaluable to the fan experience and will be a big factor in the success of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

"The roles that our volunteers play in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 experience for fans will be key in showing them how welcoming Christchurch and its people are.

"The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will give us the chance to showcase our city to a multitude of visitors from overseas and around the country.

"On behalf of the Council I would like to express my sincerest thanks to all those taking part in the volunteer programme. I wish our volunteers all the very best and hope their experience is as rewarding as I'm sure it will be for all our visitors during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015," says Councillor Scandrett.

Head of New Zealand, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Therese Walsh says, "In many cases volunteers will be the public face of the tournament and people will turn to them for information and assistance.

"We had an outstanding response when we launched the volunteer programme in March last year and we have a full quota in each of our seven host cities," says Ms Walsh.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia from 14 February to 29 March 2015.
