Mojo Pulse 2015 Pre-season Games Announced

29 January 2015

With only 30 days till the start of the 2015 ANZ Championship, excitement continues to build in the Mojo Pulse camp with the announcement of the team’s pre-season games.

The Mojo Pulse will follow their first pre-season outing at next weekend’s ANZ Championship Summer Shootout in Sydney, with games at Te Rauparaha Arena,ASB Sports Centre and Te Wānanga o Raukawa in Otaki.

The Summer Shootout will provide the Pulse players with plenty of practice against Australian teams when they play the Adelaide Thunderbirds, New South Wales Swifts and West Coast Fever at the brand new Netball Central facility at Sydney’s Olympic Park, the home of this year’s Netball World Cup.

The girls will then get a chance to face the reigning ANZ champions, the Melbourne Vixens, ahead of their opening 2015 ANZ Championship match in Melbourne on 1 March. The Pulse will meet the visitors on home turf on Friday 13 February at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua, and again on Saturday 14 February at the ASB Sports Centre in Kilbirnie.

The following weekend, Te Wānanga o Raukawa in Otaki will host a two-day, three team tournament where netball fans will be able to see the Pulse pitch themselves against the Southern Steel and Canterbury Tactix. The Pulse play the Steel onSaturday 21 February, with the Steel facing the Tactix on Sunday, 22 February in the morning, and the Pulse taking on the Tactix later in the afternoon.

Mojo Pulse CEO Carolyn Young feels confident that the team will have had excellent preparation for the 2015 season. “We are providing the team with a solid start to their 2015 ANZ Championship campaign,” she explained.

“Taking on last year’s champions, the Melbourne Vixens, twice before they meet them in their season opener as well as the three-day Summer Shootout against Australian teams on Australian soil, will go a long way to build combinations, provide valuable court time and expose our new players to real competition.

“We’re also delighted that Te Wānanga o Raukawa are able to host the two-day tournament with the Steel and the Tactix, the tournament is especially important now there is a new ANZ Championship conference system in play this year. The new conference model will certainly add extra pressure on home teams to lead the New Zealand table this season,” added Carolyn.

Tickets for the pre-season games at Te Rauparaha Arena, ASB Sports Centre and Te Wānanga o Raukawa are just $10 for both adults and children and are available on the door before the game. Supporters are urged to get to the venues early to ensure they get a ticket.
