Street Artist Kelsey Montague's Major Ponsonby Mural Project

Press Release

For Immediate Release

Street Artist Kelsey Montague
Is Now Painting a Major Mural Project on Ponsonby Road in Auckland

You don’t see many women street artists out there... painter and illustrator Kelsey Montague is one exception to that rule.

Montague is going to paint a large angel wing mural for The Ponsonby Business Association February 17, 2015. Whitespace in Auckland (12 Crummer Rd, Ponsonby) has generously offered to host a reception for Kelsey and a number of her one-of-a-kind pieces the evening of February 17th.

Her work, a massive pair of wings entitled What Lifts You will be both interactive and socially engaging. The public will be invited to pose with the wings and post photos of themselves “wearing” the wings to Facebook and Instagram.

Viewers can engage with the piece via social media, sharing their answers to the question #whatliftsyou. Kelsey’s goal is ultimately to provide opportunities for people to become ‘living works of art.’

Kelsey completed her first wing mural last year in the popular Nolita neighborhood in New York City. This piece has been featured on the Instagram accounts of Taylor Swift, Vanessa Hudgens and Refinery 29.

MTV and Buzzfeed featured her work and Mashable did an in-depth video article about Kelsey’s ability to create pieces that are at the intersection of street art and social media (articles available online).
