A little drive goes a long way

The Otago Polytechnic Education Open ensures ‘a little drive goes a long way’

Dunedin businesses have given their full support to the Otago Polytechnic Education Open 2015. The event will be taking place at Chisholm Park Golf Club, welcoming special guest, and New Zealand’s No.1 Golf Professional, Michael Hendry.

Hendry, who took part in last year’s Education Open, is “delighted” to return to this event in 2015. “My entire focus for golf is dedicated to achieving excellence on a world stage, so I appreciate that Otago Polytechnic shares this vision for itself and its students,” says Hendry.

The Education Open is being sponsored by a number of Dunedin businesses, who are keen to support Otago Polytechnic’s Education Foundation. The day ‘tees off’ with a Short-Game Clinic, run by Mike Hendry, followed by a shotgun start to the Ambrose Tournament at 12.00pm.

According to Mike Waddell, Education Foundation Manager at Otago Polytechnic, the Foundation was set up to help Otago Polytechnic students ‘go further’.

“We’re delighted with this year’s response,” says Mike. “Our sponsors are making a lasting difference to our students’ education and opportunities. Their generosity is assisting students have world class experiences, either in New Zealand or overseas.”

The Education Foundation has funded a number of initiatives, including helping seven Fashion students to showcase their collections at Shanghai Fashion Week last year and giving Automotive Engineering graduate, Jade Aikman-Dodd, the opportunity to join the Ship for World Youth Programme in Japan.
