Fanzone to screen live coverage of Cricket World Cup Final
Fanzone to screen live coverage of this Sunday’s ICC Cricket World Cup Final 2015
As cricket fever grips the
nation, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 New Zealand Fanzone
at Victoria Square will open one last time this Sunday,
screening live coverage of the Black Caps in their
first-ever ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Final.
Christchurch
City Council Event Partnerships Development Manager Richard
Attwood says the Fanzone will be the best seat in town to
watch the climax of the tournament as the Black Caps compete
for the ultimate prize, the ICC Cricket World Cup.
“The atmosphere and attendances at the Fanzone have been amazing throughout the tournament. We had 4000 people there for New Zealand’s quarter-final versus the West Indies and 3000 visitors throughout the nail-biting semi-final versus South Africa.
“For cricket fans who aren’t able to experience the roar of the crowd at the Melbourne Cricket ground (MCG), we want to them to know we have our own stadium atmosphere right here in Christchurch. We’ve got the big screen, onsite food and beverage vendors and entry is free. It’s going to be a unique and memorable evening for cricket fans, so we’re inviting everyone along one last time to enjoy the magic of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
“The Black Caps’ world cup journey started here at Christchurch’s Hagley Oval when they played Sri Lanka in the opening game of the tournament, and we hope it ends in celebrations this Sunday for Christchurch fans at the Fanzone. Round up the family and friends and come along to cheer on the Black Caps,” Mr Attwood says.
