"Over the last few years we've been teaming up with the CELERY PRODUCTIONS girls to transform historic and unused venues for our A WEIRD NIGHT OUT series of events. I'm beyond excited that we have been given the incredible opportunity to bring our full sensory carnival vibes to Auckland's most legendary venue." - Nick Dwyer (WEIRD TOGETHER)

When the well-loved ST JAMES THEATRE on Queen Street closed in 2007, it felt like the end of an era for quality live entertainment in Auckland. For the last eight years, its absence has weighed heavy. On Saturday the 2nd of May, the recently renovated venue reopens its doors. On the night, it will play host to loved annual Auckland Festival A WEIRD NIGHT OUT: presented by global club music big band WEIRD TOGETHER, CELERY PRODUCTIONS, NZ MUSIC MONTH, SMIRNOFF VODKA and PANDORA INTERNET RADIO.

“We are hugely excited to have A WEIRD NIGHT OUT as one of the key events of NZ Music Month this year. NZ Music Month is about celebrating our culture. What better place to do this than at the cultural icon that is the ST JAMES THEATRE, with a line up of exceptional local music from both established and emerging New Zealand acts. It’s going to be an amazing way to kick off the Month.” - Cath Andersen, Chief Executive, NZ Music Commission

A multi-zone celebration of meaningful live entertainment, arts, and our local cultural diversity, A WEIRD NIGHT OUT will feature energetic performances and DJ sets from a top-tier bill of contemporary New Zealand entertainers. The line-up includes WEIRD TOGETHER (LIVE), P-MONEY, THE PEACEKEEPERS feat MC TALI, RED BULL SOUND SELECT artists HIGH HØØPS, KAMANDI & RACE BANYON, as well as THOMSTON, AZBO, and other SPECIAL GUESTS. "We've put together a line-up that is a mixture of names whom the ST JAMES means a lot to, like P-MONEY, SAMBORA & P-DIGGS from THE PEACEKEEPERS, and new talent who have yet to experience just how magical it is, KAMANDI, RACE BANYON, and THOMSTON, who will be doing his first ever live public performance on the night!" - Nick Dwyer (WEIRD TOGETHER)

"The St James Theatre has been important for several generations, who all have their own significant memories from the space. We look forward to revisiting memory lane with them, while creating special memories for the new generation, and continuing the theatre's legacy as a crucial home for live entertainment in Auckland." - Steve Bielby, Principal Trustee, Auckland Notable Properties Trust
