Squash NZ Morriss steps down as Coaching Director

Squash New Zealand today announces that Luke Morriss has resigned from his position as Coaching & Development Director with the governing body.

Morriss, who joined Squash New Zealand in March 2015, has played a lead role in growing the quality of coach and club development activity over the past few years. Morriss is leaving to take up the role as Coaching & Talent Development at Aktive – Auckland Sport and Recreation in late September.

Squash New Zealand Chief Executive Jim O’Grady said Morriss has been a real asset for the national office and can look back with pride at what he has been able to achieve.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish Luke all the best in his new role. He has made an excellent contribution to our coaching and development programmes and leaves the sport well placed for future growth”, said O’Grady.

Morriss wished to thank those who have helped him to be successful in the role. Reflecting on his time Morriss said it was not an easy decision to walk away from a position that he has found challenging, yet extremely rewarding.

“I am pleased to be leaving squash’s coach and club development systems in stronger positions” he said. “I look forward to maintaining the positive relationships I have established during my time and am excited by the challenge of working with multiple sports across the Auckland region.”

Squash New Zealand will begin the process of finding a replacement in the near future.
