Marilyn Brady New ITF Chairperson

Marilyn Brady has been elected ITF Chairperson for 2002/03 at the ITF AGM in Wellington yesterday (Tuesday 18 June).

Marilyn has been a member of the ITF Board since 1999 and is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Electro-technology ITO. Marilyn has also held senior secondary school and public sector positions.

Marilyn was elected to the position after John Blakey, Chair for 2001/2002, stood down in order to take up a position on the Board of the Tertiary Education Commission.

“A new phase in the development of industry training is beginning and the ITF will be a leading and constructive participant in the formation of the Tertiary Education Commission. We’ve achieved a great deal in the last ten years and we are very ambitious and enthusiastic about the next ten,” said Marilyn Brady.

Other members of the Board include 5 returning Board members, Warwick Bell (Design Construction Consultants ITO, Darrin Apanui (Seafood ITO), Joan Grace (Printing and Allied Trades ITO), Bob Howlett (Electricity Supply ITO) and Derek Swarbrick (Competenz). Two new Board members were elected, they are; Kevin Bryant (Agriculture ITO) and Steve Hurring (Motor ITO).

“Marilyn’s election very much confirms the current direction of the ITF. Marilyn has been an active and enthusiastic advocate of industry training for many years and an engaged member of the Board. She has also been very involved in our relations with key stakeholders and agencies,” said Paul Williams, ITF Executive Director.
