Cambridge Recognises Students’ Achievement in New Zealand
Ceremony Held in Auckland to Celebrate Student Success
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) will present awards to high achieving students at a prize-giving ceremony at the Centennial Theatre at Auckland Grammar School on Friday, 25 February 2005. The ceremony gives CIE the opportunity to congratulate the many students who have worked hard to gain Cambridge qualifications in New Zealand.
“Congratulations to each of these students for gaining such exceptional results,” said Tom Eason, CIE Director of International Education. “For the bright students of New Zealand, these achievements mean more than honours and awards; they are the start of a bright future.”
The awards acknowledge those students who achieved outstanding results in June and November 2004 Cambridge IGCSE, A and AS Level examinations. There are three categories from which the winners were selected. Those students who gained:
• The highest mark in the world in an IGCSE or A/AS Level subject in either the June or November 2004 sessions
• The top mark in New Zealand (for an A* or A) in an IGCSE or A/AS Level subject in the November 2004 session
• The top mark in New Zealand in an IGCSE or A/AS Level subject in the June 2004 session (if that mark was equal to or better than the top mark from the November session)
All successful students will win NZ$100 each. Seventeen of those who were awarded the highest mark in the world also qualify for the top mark in New Zealand prize, which pushes their winnings up to NZ$200 each.
CIE representatives from the UK join Regional Representative Simon Higgins to celebrate the occasion with school principals, students and parents.
CIE, the world’s leading provider of international qualifications and assessments, is part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES). CIE provides qualifications in over 150 different countries and to more than a million students every year.
