Support to Hadassah
Kadimah College students
are aiming to brighten the lives of sick children in a
nation many of them have never set foot in.
Students took time out of their school day today to create an art masterpiece to display in the Paediatric Wing of Hadassah’s Mount Scopus Hospital based in Jerusalem, Israel.
Hadassah NZ President, Jenny Leiman says the event allowed the children to support the work of Hadassah in a tangible way, whilst raising their awareness for a world-class medical facility.
“Sending a piece of artwork to Jerusalem is a meaningful gesture that will establish a bond between Hadassah New Zealand and the hospital itself, as well as the patients it heals,” said Jenny.
The event is part of the “Painting Smiles across Miles” campaign which has been developed to raise awareness for Hadassah in New Zealand.
Jenny hopes the school’s support will also help gather more participants for Hadassah New Zealand’s Bi-Annual Worldwide Walk on November, 28 in Auckland.
“Kadimah College is an established Jewish day school which has students from all denominations, reflecting Hadassah itself which equally treats all patients, regardless of ethnic and religious differences, in an effort to build bridges to peace.”
This year the funds raised from the walk will go toward the refurbishment of the Paediatric Wing at Hadassah’s Mount Scopus Hospital. The Mount Scopus hospital is one of the facilities of Hadassah Medical Organisation, the other being the Hadassah University campus and Hospital at Ein Kerem.
Hadassah International NZ, alongside many other chapters around the world, raises funds and awareness for the special treatment and research carried out at the Hadassah Hospitals. In 2005, the Hadassah Organisation was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
