Date: Tuesday 20th September 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NZ Teachers inspired by philosophy from Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Reggio is world renowned in the education sector for its philosophy which inspires teachers to think about the competencies that children bring to their learning, and is a catalyst for thinking, research and advocacy in Aotearoa New Zealand educational settings.

Bringing The Hundred Languages of Children exhibition to New Zealand has been a vision of the Trustees of Reggio Emilia Aotearoa New Zealand (REANZ) for many years. This important exhibition reveals many insights into the teaching and learning practices from Reggio Emilia, Italy.

REANZ will be hosting a conference from the 13th – 15th, and the Exhibition from the 11th -20th October 2011. This event has many facets and includes a Conference; One Day Seminar; Exhibition; Free Public Lecture, and Evening sessions.

The Keynote speakers from Reggio Emilia are Paola Strozzi - a Pedagogista, and Evelina Reveberi - a teacher, both teachers have made substantial contributions to our understanding of the educational projects from Reggio Emilia through their work featured in Making Learning Visible. Other guest speakers include Jan Millikan from Australia and Dr Lesley Rameka Lecturer in Professional Studies in Education at the University of Waikato.

“I feel a great sense of honour at being invited to take part in the events around the showing of the The Hundred Languages of Children exhibition and meetings with administrators, parents, teachers and people of different backgrounds interested in the themes of education.” says Keynote speaker Paola Strozzi.
