Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2013 resources now available

With one month to go, Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori is preparing to distribute a half a million copies of resources to support Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2013.

Each year, the set of resources is produced to support communities to host Te Wiki o te Reo Māori events.

The resource packs include pamphlets about Māori place names and Māori personal names, a poster, a map, stickers and bilingual office signs.

“Our theme is ‘Ngā ingoa Māori, Māori names,’ and we have resources to help the public join the kaupapa at any level,” says Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori CE Glenis Phillip-Barbara.

“New Zealanders can learn about Māori names no matter what level of knowledge they have of te reo Māori.”

Resources are available for free from the Commission at this link: http://www.korero.maori.nz/resources/shop.html

The resources are used by thousands of organisations each year to support their promotional activities.

“This is also a time for organisations to plan their entries for Ngā Tohu Reo Māori, the Māori Language Awards being held in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa (Gisborne) this November.”

As stocks are limited, the resources will be made available for download if demand requires.
