Update 19 - Influenza A
(H1N1) Swine Flu
The most recent situation report at 5pm Saturday 2 May shows 12 probable cases who have tested positive to Influenza A, and 4 confirmed cases.
In addition there are 101 suspected cases (down from 116 on Friday). These are people who have developed symptoms of influenza within seven days of having been in the areas of concern or are close contacts of cases and have flu-like symptoms.
In total there are 269 people in isolation and being treated with Tamiflu (down from 388 on Friday). This includes suspected cases and people without symptoms who are being isolated as a precaution because they were in close contact with a suspected case.
These numbers will fluctuate as a result of more suspected cases being found, or suspected cases being ruled out.
Contact tracing - new probable case in Hawke's Bay; Wellington case cleared
These numbers include a Hawke's Bay student who has tested positive for influenza A. The student was in a party of students from Hawke's Bay who travelled from Los Angeles arriving in New Zealand at 5.30am on Tuesday 28 April and then travelled by bus to Hawke's Bay.
All 53 passengers on the bus are being treated as close contacts and treated with tamiflu and asked to stay in isolation at home.
A Wellington woman who tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1) after arriving in Auckland from Los Angeles on NZ1 on Sunday 26 April has been cleared. She has seasonal influenza. Tracing by officials has been stopped of people sitting close to the women on her international and domestic flight as they are no longer of concern.
