Family Care Radio show focuses on dementia

Our latest Family Care Radio show is live at www.familycareradio.net.nz!

This month our Family Care Radio show focuses on dementia.

Dr Maree Todd offers expert advice about some of the tough decisions that face those who care for an elderly loved one.

Todd Naill talks with Brigid Magner, the daughter of well known NZ author Maurice Shadbolt, and former television presenter Barbara Magner. Maurice died in 2004 after a long battle with a dementia disease.  Her Mum is now also affected by Alzheimer's.

Learn about the Top Twenty Books that carers and people affected with dementia have found most useful, compiled by Family Care Radio and Alzheimer’s NZ!

Our Five Minute Features this month include ActiveWellness with ACC: Safe housework and maintenance.  Our continence advisor Sonja Karon talks about managing leaks, managing life with catheters, and the importance of keeping your sense of humour!

Healing is the latest Five Minute Mediation from Anna Filliol. Choose from other topics in our meditations library at the Family Care Radio website.

Our second issue of Older Family Care is available now!  Email sara@carers.net.nz or phone (0800) 777 797 to request your free copy!

We’re working on our June issue of Family Care at the moment; this will automatically be sent to you if you are already on our mailing list. Otherwise you can phone our office, or email sara@carers.net.nz to request your own copy.

From this programme, you can now also listen to Family Care Radio on community radio stations around New Zealand.  The stations are replaying each new show TWICE, so even if you don't feel like listening to the show on the Internet, you can tune in using your ordinary household radio.
