Wellington Homeopath on World Stage

Wellington Homeopath, Gwyneth Evans has been elected chairperson of Europe-based International Council of Homeopaths (ICH), an organisation that represents 30 professional associations in 28 countries, including Australia, USA, Canada, Japan.

Created in 2007 to represent professional homeopaths and to promote homeopathic treatment for patients around the world, the ICH upholds the professional standard of homeopathy worldwide. Its creation was an expression of increasing popularity of homeopathy around the world.

In the early 1990s, Ms Evans was Vice-chairperson of the parent body (ICCH) which was involved in the setting of guidelines for homeopathic education world-wide.

According to Ms Evans, “This nomination feels like coming full circle after my early involvement in the 1990s. The profession has given me so much and now I can give back by stepping out on the world stage and offering a wider area of service. And I want to put New Zealand on that world stage. We are one of the few countries in the world that have both doctor homeopaths and professional lay homeopaths on the same register.”

She says the current aim of ICH is to show a united front internationally for homeopathy in order to gain WHO NGO status and to continue to set education guidelines for homeopathy colleges around the globe.

Brief background on Gwyneth Evans

Gwyneth’s Homeopathic education started when she studied at the London College of Homeopathy. On return to New Zealand she established her private practice in Tawa 1987 and then went on to found the Wellington College of Homeopathy where she continues as Principal and tutor.

She is life member of the New Zealand Council of Homeopaths and served as the inaugural President for two years.

The New Zealand Council of Homeopaths feels this appointment reflects on the high standard of homeopathic education that she has helped establish in this country.
