Capital & Coast DHB chief executive appointment

Capital & Coast DHB chief executive appointment

Debbie Chin has been appointed as chief executive of Capital & District Health Board (DHB).

Capital & Coast DHB Board Chair Dr Virginia Hope said the Board has taken a fresh and independent look at what skills it needed going forward and Mrs Chin was chosen from a large field of high quality candidates.

“As well as having a strong background in management and finance, Mrs Chin has extensive health sector experience. She was a former Deputy Director-General at the Ministry of Health and worked in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in a health advisory role,” says Dr Hope.

Mrs Chin is currently on secondment from her role as chief executive of Standards New Zealand. She has been the interim chief executive at Capital & Coast DHB since September 2013 during which time the DHB’s performance has improved against a number of ministerial targets and against budget.

Mrs Chin will take up the appointment as chief executive formally on 1 July 2015.
