Govt Announces David Lange's Memorial In Auckland SaturdayPrime Minister Helen Clark said today that there will be a public memorial service for David Lange this Saturday in Auckland. Helen Clark said that David Lange had requested a private, family funeral, but that the memorial service offered the opportunity for a public celebration of his life. New Zealand Statesman Dies - Former Prime Minister
David Lange died at 10pm Saturday night at Middlemore
Hospital in south Auckland. His brother Peter and son Roy
were at his side. David Lange had been in hospital receiving
dialysis after his kidneys had failed due to complications
arising from diabetes. He lapsed into unconsciousness on
Friday. On Saturday, his wife Margaret Pope had been at his
side until 6pm. She quickly returned to Middlemore Hospital
after hearing the news at 10pm. See... David
