Politics: New Electorate Boundaries Finalised - New boundaries for the country's 63 general and seven Mâori electorates have been finalised - with a completely new electorate named Botany created in Auckland. The 2007 Representation Commission has completed its statutory role of reviewing and redrawing electorate boundaries to be used in the next two general elections. "We received 331 objections and 114 counter objections to the proposed electorate boundaries released in early May," says Judge Bernard Kendall, Chair of the Representation Commission. More>> [1]

Politics: PM Launches Assault On National's SOE Comments - Audio + Images + Video Link - Opposition Finance spokesman Bill English's comments on TVNZ's Agenda program last weekend were pounced upon by the Prime Minister at this afternoon's post cabinet press conference. Mr English said on Agenda that the National Party supported the "mixed model" concept for state owned enterprises. "Why would we want to go from very successful sate owned company's returning a dividend to every Kiwi to some Kiwi's having the chance top get a lot more from them than others," said the PM when asked about Mr English's comments.
