Wellington celebrated Waitangi day – or more accurately, the first day of the Rugby Sevens – by dressing up in various cultural costumes and engaging in revelry, much which was could be described as 'drunken'.
Scoop was there as the costumed madness hit the streets, braving angels, belly dancers and cross-dressers for as long as the batteries in its camera held out.More >>

The silly season officially returned to the capital today as Wellingtonian turned out to take lollies and trinkets from oddly-dressed strangers.
A parade was held this lunchtime
in honour of this weekend's NZI Sevens, giving the city a
chance to greet teams from 16 nations, as well as their
bobble-headed mascots. Music, dancing and costumed
tomfoolery were also a feature. More

on the NZ float on the 7's parade today. "Ka pai koe Zar -

Lambton Quay this afternoon providing photo opportunities
and signing autographs for fans young and old. For many of
the players this is the first time they have left the
islands. More
