Wellington.Scoop: A 4-Lane Expressway To The Airport – But They’re Not Telling Us Where Or How Much

Wellington residents should be troubled by the official silence on how a four-lane expressway is to be pushed through the city from the second Terrace Tunnel to the second Mt Victoria Tunnel. There’s not a word about this in the “corridor fact sheet” released by the New Zealand Transport Agency. Transport Minister Steven Joyce has joined the NZ Transport Agency in unveiling plans for a $2.2 billion strategic upgrade of State Highway 1 from Wellington Airport to Levin, including Transmission Gully.

The plans will see a four-lane expressway developed in three stages, with the entire route substantially progressed within the next ten years. More>>
