We Need to SAVE PAKISTAN

We Need to SAVE PAKISTAN

By Syed Atiq ul Hassan, Sydney, Australia
August 14, 2011

After the decades long negotiations with Congress leadership and offered many proposal Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah was unable to bring them on table to accept the rights of the Indian Muslims and provide them legislative security. Hence, Pakistan was the only option for the Indian Muslims in then political scenario of all India. Pakistan was created on the principles of basic civil rights equal for everyone. Pakistan was the need of the time for those Indian Muslims who are in Muslim-Minority States as well as Muslim-Majority States of then All India.

It is also true that the Muslims were already in majority in the Sind, Punjab, Baluchistan and Northern-Western Frontier Territories (NWFP) of then All India yet people in these States were not being given their basic rights by the feudal lords, tribal leaders and choudherys. These Muslims-Majority States (Sind, Punjab, Baluchistan, NWFP) were ruled by tyrant feudal, tribal leaders and choudherys.

These Muslim feudal lords, tribune leaders and choudherys were the guardians of Muslims’ votes in their controlled territories but they were not supporting All India Muslim League, Muslim League lost heavily 1937 legislative election against Congress. Hence, it was the bitter reality that the founder of Pakistani Mohammed Ali Jinnah could not ignore these feudal lords, tribal leaders and choudherys in order to obtain to support of the common people of Sind, Punjab, Baluchistan and Northern Frontier areas. The feudal lords, tribal leaders and choudherys secured their place in the Muslim league as the prime campaigners of Pakistan before and after the creation of Pakistan. Unfortunately, after 64 years, these feudal, tribal leaders and choudherys are ruling Pakistan in more repressive system.

Life did not permit Mr. Jinnah to clean-up these powerful feudal, tribal and choudherys system of then West Pakistan (Sind, Punjab, Baluchistan, NWFP) through land reforms as he died in 1948. Since then these feudal lords, tribal leaders and choudherys became more and more powerful by capturing the political power of Pakistan by shaking hands with the other two ruling pillars, the army and the bureaucracy and even with the big business owners.

These feudal lords, tribal leaders and choudherys cum so-called political guru promoted everything in Pakistan except the nationalism. They have corrupted the entire system of Pakistan to secure their power and now the country became their chattels. They will keep their interest in Pakistan as long as they feel secure from the existence of Pakistan. The tale of creation of Bangladesh (former East Pakistan) proves the level of importance of the integrity of Pakistan versus political power of feudal lords cum politicians.

History shows that the elements of nationalism and love to the country and its solidarity has never been so important among these ruling powers compare to the greed of power they have. Hence, they never promoted patriotism or national spirit in Pakistan. Today, the Pakistani nation is more Sindhi, Ballochi, Pathan, Muhajir, Siraiki, Punjabi and so on but less Pakistani.

Apparently, there is a so-called political or democratic system running, today, but in reality it’s a system of corruption that rules the most. On the name of Pakistan, provincialism, tribalism and dynasty-ism are flourishing but no one is taking care of ideology of Pakistan and unity of the people of Pakistan. And now when the corrupt and incapable rulers of Pakistan brought the country in a situation where people are dying day & night due to lack of basic needs (food, water, electricity etc), jobs, law & order and security of lives, the anti-Pakistan elements are trying to justify that the decision of creating Pakistan was basically the conspiracy of dividing Muslims of the subcontinent. I take it as total non-sense.

If we talk about Pakistanis living abroad, regrettably the people are found infected by the same politics of provincialism, tribalism and dynasty-ism of Pakistan. Though people have spent most of their life in civilised and democratic society but they could not learn from others. They are divided on the basis of language, province or event cities or family identities. When they meet each other the first thing they want to know is that whether the other person also belongs to the same province or speaks the same language or even likes the same political party or leadership. If Pakistani living in other countries cannot identify themselves as Pakistani how their children can carry their Pakistani identity. I had the opportunity to travel and stay in Middle East, Europe, USA and now living in Australia for the last 22 years. I found when Pakistanis get together and form community organisations they prefer to choose people from their own province or language and then they promote their own vested agenda rather than promoting Pakistan.

I believe the reason the people of Pakistan, in and outside Pakistan, could not unite as one Pakistani and could not promote patriotism/nationalism as they could not find any unified leadership who can stick them together as one Pakistani. And now, one cannot see any leader who can unite the people of all provinces of Pakistan under one slogan.

Pakistan is the outcome of unaccountable and priceless sacrifices of our elders, fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah says, ‘Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but the Muslim ideology, which has to be preserved, which has come to us as a precious gift and which, we hope, others will share with us’ (26th December, 1943).

I believe, after 64 years to the creation of Pakistan, a new generation has grown up and ready to take control of Pakistan. This generation has to sand-up and launch a revolutionary movement under a new leadership who should have clean and proud background, who can unite the people of Pakistan as ONE PAKISTANI.
