Government Bills Progress With General Agreement

After the dinner break, the Administration of Community Sentences and Orders Bill was sent to the Law and Order Committee for consideration on a voice vote.

The main aim of this Bill is to remove “barriers” and improve the administration of managing offenders in the community in a manner that is safe, secure, humane, effective, and efficient.

The Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Bill received its first reading on a voice vote and the House rose for the night.

The bill make changes in the governance structure of the Historic Places Trust (Pouhere Taonga), adjust competing values, introduce new archaeological provisions and changes the name of the Historic Places Trust to “Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga” (“Heritage NZ”).
