The Home Straight

The final sitting weeks of this Parliament will begin with the Government dealing with the committee stage of a number of bills.

The first bill to be debated following Question Time is the committee stage of the Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Bill. This bill proposed controversial reform of local government law and completed its second reading by 61 to 59 with National, ACT and United Future supporting.

This will be followed by the more widely supported Advanced Technology Institute Bill.
