Defeating the Violence in Our Food and Medicine

Defeating the Violence in Our Food and Medicine

by Robert J. Burrowes
December 17, 2013

Critiques of the mainstream (allopathic) medical industry have long drawn attention to its death-dealing: See, for example, 'Medical Nemesis: The Expropriation of Health' and 'When Doctors Strike, Fewer People Die'. In fact, according to one heavily-researched report, 'It is evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States', far surpassing heart disease, cancer and shootings: 'Death by Medicine'.

Apart from exposing the medical industry, there has been much effort to expose the way in which the pharmaceutical and agribusiness food industries (particularly the meat industry) have ensured that little in the way of health-enhancing advice and treatment is available to patients who risk all by subjecting themselves to a 'doctor'. Of course, much of this information is suppressed by the medical industry itself, along with its allies in the pharmaceutical and agribusiness industries, and the corporate media plays its part as well. See, for example, 'Bad Pharma: How Drug Companies Mislead Doctors and Harm Patients' and 'Happier Meals: Rethinking the Global Meat Industry'.

Rather than hash over the old facts, however, I want to concentrate on presenting a series of healthy alternatives to the chronic illness often induced by following mainstream medical advice, particularly in relation to diet and treatment. So here are some options for you to consider.

Good physical health requires high quality air, food and (unfluoridated) water, correct posture and movement patterns, and regular exercise. And these all depend on the emotional capacity to choose life-enhancing options. If you need emotional support to make changes, identify someone you trust to listen well and ask them to listen to you in silence while you focus on yourself and how you feel, and then talk about what makes changes difficult for you. Only you know how to truly solve your problems: ask the listener to let you do so.

In relation to food, the overwhelming evidence, which is readily available to anyone who seeks it, clearly indicates that ecological sustainability and human health are most effectively nurtured by a diet of organically or biodynamically grown, fresh, whole (unprocessed) vegetarian food that is healthily prepared (without being cooked in oil or fat, for example) and consumed in modest quantities. However, most of us eat processed food-like substances that fall well outside these parameters. While there are emotional reasons for eating unhealthy food – for example, fear distorts sensory perception and interferes with emotional and physical responses that signal damaging behavior so that taste buds become addicted to sweet, salty and/or fatty foods – it is also the case that much effort goes into deluding us that foods poisoned with pesticides, processed foods, fast foods and even genetically mutilated foods are 'healthy'. This helps to ensure that doctors have a steady stream of chronically ill patients, who can then be prescribed health-destroying drugs or other deadly 'treatments' like chemotherapy.

So if you want to restore your health and vitality, you will need clean air and water, as well as healthy food, to begin with. But if your health has already been compromised, here are some treatment modalities that you won't hear much about because awareness of their effectiveness is vigorously suppressed.

If you need to consult a health practitioner have you considered seeing a homeopath, naturopath, herbal medicine practitioner, Chinese medicine practitioner, acupuncturist or an Ayurvedic health practitioner? These health modalities aim to identify and tackle causes while strengthening your own immune system with natural medicines, herbs, minerals and/or other treatments that have no side effects. For posture and movement problems, consider Feldenkrais and Alexander Technique: these modalities help you become aware of, and to correct, your brain's control of movement patterns so as to avoid problems of this type in future. Osteopathy and Chiropractic manually correct mechanical abnormalities in the relationship between muscles and bones while Rolfing corrects distortions in the muscle fascia. Other modalities such as Rosen Therapy and some types of massage encourage talking and/or emotional release in response to physical attention given by the practitioner. And modalities such as yoga and Tai Chi help you learn to be aware of your body in a variety of subtle ways.

Natural Vision Improvement, widely taught by associates of Janet Goodrich, can cure long or short-sightedness and other vision impairments, making spectacles unnecessary. For learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and Asperger Syndrome, the (Wynford) Dore program uses a personalised physical exercise program to overcome these difficulties: http://www.dore.co.uk/. The Buteyko breathing method eradicates or dramatically reduces breathing dysfunctionalities such as asthma and sleep apnoea, and improves many conditions caused or exacerbated by an incorrect carbon dioxide/oxygen balance in the bloodstream.

There are many sensible, well documented and scientifically explained dietary therapies for the prevention and cure of what some people consider to be incurable diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, hypoglycaemia, arthritis and addictions. Therapies include those developed by Dr Max Gerson, Rudolf Breuss and those documented by Paavo Airola.

The best known cure for cancer is probably Gerson Therapy. You can attend one of the Gerson Clinics (in Europe, Japan and Mexico) to receive this non-invasive treatment or, in many cases, you can undertake the treatment at home by following the instructions in the Gerson book: Charlotte Gerson with Beatta Bishop, 'Healing the Gerson Way: Defeating Cancer and other Chronic Diseases', Totality Books, Carmel (California), 2009. Gerson Therapy has been curing cancer patients since the 1920s and has tens of thousands of successful, documented case histories. The Gerson DVDs are instructive and inspiring.

Chlorine dioxide – created and used according to Jim Humble's Miracle Mineral Supplement (MMS) protocols – destroys most pathogens in the body, including viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungal infections, cheaply and quickly without damaging side-effects. MMS has been used to cure AIDS and malaria in Africa and elsewhere. MMS is very low-cost and highly effective compared to high-cost, ongoing pharmaceutical treatments that provide 'management' without cure. See Jim V. Humble 'Breakthrough: The Miracle Mineral Supplement of the 21st Century' available in hard copy and e-book: http://miraclemineral.org/

If you want more information about these and other natural cures, see 'The Flame Tree Project to Save Life on Earth'.

Don't forget that when you check out the healing strategies offered above, you might well come across a series of denunciations, including in Wikipedia: your ill-health is worth a lot of money to many corporations and people. But in the end, it's your health and your choice.
