Hutt Council Graffiti Powers Progress
A bill giving Hutt City Council powers to remove graffiti from private property has progressed with wide support from MPs
The Hutt City Council (Graffiti Removal) Bill, a private bill in the name of Trevor Mallard, completed its second reading on a voice vote.
Mallard explained the bill would help deal with a problem that was a scourge in some parts of his electorate.
A number of MPs said other councils would like similar powers to deal with graffiti and the Government should look to passing general legislation covering the entire country.
MPs returned to the interrupted first reading debate on the Overseas Investment (Restriction on Foreign Ownership of Land) Amendment Bill
