House Rises Early For A Royal Reception
The House rose early today to allow MPs to attend a royal reception
A 90 minute long Question Time was followed by the second reading of the Veterans' Support Bill.
The bill was given its second reading on a voice vote though Labour and NZ First indicated they were unhappy with the bill and would seek changes in the committee stage.
MPs also completed the second reading of the Credit Contracts and Financial Services Law Reform Bill
The bill completed progressed on a voice vote. Labour and others indicated they would be pushing for a cap on interest rates for loans in the committee stage. In particular MPs indicated they would put pressure on United Future’s Peter Dunne
The House rose at 5.34pm so MPs could prepare to attend a reception for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
