Nats Say It WIll Solve Auck Traffic In Ten Years
National’s Promise To Get Auckland’s Motorway Network Built Within 10 Years…
“As Auckland’s traffic gridlock gets worse by the day, the case for a faster programme to complete Auckland’s motorway network urgently is glaringly obvious.
“The current construction pace is far too slow and there is still no commitment from Government and transport authorities to ‘do what it takes’ to get the job done within a set time frame.
“Today’s promise by National leader Don Brash to get the job done within 10 years provides them a clear point of difference,” said Michael Barnett, chief executive of the Auckland Chamber.
National’s commitment to faster action is along the right lines and backed up by intentions to remove obvious road blocks to faster progress and use a greater range of tools,” noted Mr Barnett.
“Getting a faster planning and consent process within a year, using more of the petrol tax money for road building, and enabling private sector funding and tolls will all help.”
