Queen’s Counsel Will Live On Thanks To Civil Union Bill

New Zealand First justice spokesperson Dail Jones says the delay in the passing of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill is a result of the countless hours spent on the Civil Union Bill and the Relationships (Statutory References) Bill.

“During the very lengthy debates on the Civil Union Bills I commented that the Prime Minister was more interested in supporting the wishes of a small minority of New Zealanders rather than those people who were waiting for the passing of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill.

“Dr Cullen has only himself to blame by giving priority to Civil Union Legislation which applies to only about .02% of the population rather than the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill.

“Queen’s Counsel will live to fight another day and New Zealand First supports the continuation of this very important role in legal matters,” concluded Mr Jones.
