Dunne hails daylight saving victory
United Future leader Peter Dunne has proclaimed victory in the campaign to extend daylight saving hours.
"Nelson City Councillor Mark Holmes and I campaigned for months gathering signatures on a petition asking the Government to extend daylight saving by three weeks – and that's exactly what's happened," he says.
Starting this spring, the clocks will go forward a week earlier than usual on the last Sunday in September.
They will go back an hour on the first Sunday in April next year instead of the third Sunday in March.
"I'm delighted the Government has listened to the tens of thousands of New Zealanders who signed our petition and sent in emails supporting this move," says Mr Dunne.
