Key pays tribute to John Belgrave
National Party Leader John Key today paid tribute to Chief Ombudsman and distinguished public servant John Belgrave, who died last night aged 67.
“Mr Belgrave had a career spanning more than 40 years. During that time he worked as a diplomat in different overseas posts, promoting this country’s trade and economic interests."
"He has held numerous senior jobs in a number of government agencies over a very long period of time," says Mr Key.
In the 2007 New Year’s Honours list, Mr Belgrave was made a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
“Mr Belgrave had an outstanding career and contributed much to New Zealand and the public service. I offer my condolences to Mr Belgrave’s family and friends at this time.”
