Maori Party calls for feedback on ACC
changes
Rahui Katene, MP for Te Tai Tonga

The Maori Party is keeping an open
mind on changes to the ACC scheme, and has not made any
long-term commitments to support legislation going before
the House, according to Te Tai Tonga MP Rahui Katene.
“We agreed to support the introduction of the Bill and its referral to a Select Committee, so the people can express their views,” said Mrs Katene. “This is our general practice, to listen to the people.”
“We have had huge feedback already on this issue, and we want to hear about people’s experience with the scheme – workers and their whanau who have suffered an injury, health workers and providers of rehabilitation services, among others,” she said.
“We welcome these responses, that is the reason why we will support this legislation at its first reading. It is really important that this experience is brought before the Select Committee,” said Mrs Katene.
