Dr Pryor’s contribution to whanau outstanding

An inclusive approach to meeting the needs of whanau and an ability to welcome diversity are two of the key contributions made by the outgoing Chief Families Commissioner, says Associate Social Development Minister, Tariana Turia.

Dr Jan Pryor resigned from her role as Chief Families Commissioner today.

“I have valued Dr Pryor’s leadership in ensuring the complexities of whanau are better understood.

“She has made sure the needs of our diverse population are well understood and, through her commitment, has dispelled the myth about the 'one-size-fits-all family'.

“Her commitment and drive to highlight the needs of whanau has been outstanding and I wish her well for the future.”
