National’s comedy act on mining continues
National’s comedy act defence of mining iconic areas
continues
Energy Minister Gerry
Brownlee’s latest defence of National’s plan to dig up
our national parks goes way past its usual spin and into the
realms of fantasy, Labour Conservation spokesperson David
Parker says.
“In the House today Mr Brownlee was forced into a feeble episode of show and tell.
“It’s great to see Mr Brownlee has got his sense of humour back after storming out of the house on Tuesday. But nonetheless, National is now being forced to resort to the preposterous and laughable.
“National must be getting desperate as it fights overwhelming public opposition to its plan to mine our pristine Schedule 4 land.
“They have gone from
flip-flop to flip-flop-flip as they tie themselves into
knots.
“The Government's mining plans are a farce and
we've had enough of post cards and date scones.
“I’ll say again for the hard of hearing Mr Brownlee. The Labour Government never mined protected Schedule 4 land and opposes National’s stupid decision to mine our most beautiful areas. Labour will not budge on its position.
“We have always and will continue to support mining where appropriate on non-Schedule 4 lands,” David Parker said.
