Bennett All “Shock” But No “Show”

It’s high time Social Development Minister Paula Bennett quit her “horror story” shock tactics to crack down on benefit rorters and actually took some action, Labour Deputy Leader Annette King said today.

“Paula Bennett’s routine is getting stale. She’s talks tough and is happy to target specific cases but she is yet to take any real steps to stop people taking advantage of the system,” Annette King said.

“According to reports Ms Bennett had her party faithful gasping in horror this weekend at a case involving a West Coaster on the invalids benefit.

“If accurate, the case seems worthy of investigation. But one has to wonder why Paula Bennett has not taken any real action against benefit rorters?

“Could it be Paula Bennett’s worried that the material for her cheap hits would dry up?

“Paula Bennett has been Minister for 18 months now. If she is serious about cracking down on benefit rorting, it’s time she did something about it.

“To date Ms Bennett has done nothing, allowing her to continue one of her favourite political past times,” Annette King said.
