Lotu-Iiga Saddened By Luamanuvao Winnie Laban MP Departure

MP for Maungakiekie, Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga is saddened to see Luamanuvao Winnie Laban, MP for Mana leave Parliament but congratulates her on the appointment as the Assistant Vice Chancellor Pasifika at Victoria University.

Winnie was first elected to Parliament in 1999, becoming New Zealand's first Pacific Island woman MP. She’s been the MP for Mana since 2002 and became a Minister in 2005.

“Winnie is a great voice and a passionate advocate for Pasifika people throughout New Zealand and has made a significant contribution to both the people of Mana and the Pacific Island community”, Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga said.

“I will continue to work with Winnie in her new role to achieve a more prosperous and brighter future for Pasifika people.

“Winnie will be missed for Parliament and I wish her well in this new and exciting role.”

“I look forward to working with the National Party in Mana and our prospective candidate in contesting what is sure to be an exciting By-Election”, Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga said.
