McCully to attend Forum meeting on Fiji

Minister of Foreign Affairs Murray McCully will depart for Vanuatu on Sunday [13 February 2011] to attend a meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum Ministerial Contact Group on Fiji.

"Following recent discussions, members have unanimously agreed to hold a meeting in Vanuatu, and to invite the interim Fiji Foreign Minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, to be in attendance for part of the meeting," says Mr McCully.

The Ministerial Contact Group was established in March 2008 and was tasked by Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat leaders with monitoring the situation in Fiji and reporting back developments.

The meeting will be chaired by the Prime Minister of Vanuatu Sato Kilman and comprises ministerial representatives from Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Tuvalu and Samoa.
