Local MP Congratulates Auckland Drum Sustainability Services

Local MP Congratulates Auckland Drum Sustainability Services

“I’m excited to congratulate local business Auckland Drum Sustainability Services that has been awarded $198,500 in funding today as part of the Government’s Waste Minimisation Fund,” says local MP Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga.

It is one of the final Auckland waste minimisation projects to receive funding for the 2010/11 round, 163 applications were received, and of these only 25 projects have received funding.

“The funding received will allow Auckland Drum Sustainability Services to commission a new plastics recycling and washing plant to convert ‘hard to recycle’ HDPE plastic scrap (number 2 plastics) into material reusable within New Zealand. These recycled drums will replace imported virgin plastic polymer in a range of existing products.”

“This is great news for our environment and the future of our country,” says Mr Lotu-Iiga.

“It increases reuse, recycling, and decreases waste to our landfills.”
